"I’m pretty sure everyone wants to be liked by others and loves hearing that they’re doing a great job. The problem is when we find our worth in those things. I say this as someone who has deeply struggled with perfectionism and severe anxiety as a result of constantly striving for the approval of others. Even striving to feel worthy of the love of Christ.
I’m so thankful for a wise mentor that shared a life-changing truth with me, and I hope it’s helpful to anyone else struggling with their worth. She said, “There’s nothing you will ever do that will make God love you more, and there’s nothing you can ever do that will make God love you less.” There is so much freedom to be found in accepting this unconditional love. You are God’s masterpiece, created with intentionality and for a purpose. This is where our worth comes from! “Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:9-10"
